Emergency Electrical Services
Urgent electrical faults we can help with.
Start with the symptom you are seeing. If there is heat, smoke, sparking, water around electrical equipment or power loss that feels unsafe, use the phone first. Similar symptoms can come from connected equipment, a circuit fault, damaged wiring, a switchboard problem or the electricity supply, so our licensed electricians test the relevant electrical scope rather than diagnosing from the symptom alone.

Emergency Call Flow
Clear phone triage, proper testing and safe next actions.
1
Call first for unsafe faults
No power, burning smells, sparking, smoke, overheating power points and repeated tripping should be discussed by phone first.
2
Keep the area clear
Avoid damaged fixtures, wet equipment, exposed wires and switchboards that smell hot or look damaged.
3
Fault testing and isolation
The affected circuit, switchboard, fitting or appliance is tested so the cause is not guessed.
4
Repair or clear next actions
The fault is repaired where suitable, or the safest next action is explained before further work proceeds.
Emergency FAQ
Common urgent fault questions.
What counts as an electrical emergency?
An electrical emergency can include no power, partial power loss, burning smells, smoke, sparking, buzzing, hot fittings, repeated safety-switch tripping, switchboard faults, storm damage, water-affected outlets or exposed wiring.
Should I call or request a quote?
Call first if the fault feels unsafe, urgent or active. Use the quote form for planned work, photos, paperwork, defect notices, switchboard photos, meter box photos and job notes.
Does Evaready target a response within 60 minutes?
Target response within 60 minutes in approved core service areas. These response times are targets or estimates, not promises of a particular arrival time. Actual timing depends on location, access, traffic, safety conditions, job type and current availability. Response times apply to emergency electrical call-outs, not planned quote work.
Which areas use the estimated 60–90-minute response?
The selected outer regions are Northern Beaches, Blue Mountains, Wollongong & Illawarra, and Central Coast South. Estimated 60–90-minute response in selected outer regions. These response times are targets or estimates, not promises of a particular arrival time. Actual timing depends on location, access, traffic, safety conditions, job type and current availability. Response times apply to emergency electrical call-outs, not planned quote work.
Should I keep resetting a tripping safety switch?
No. If a safety switch or circuit breaker keeps tripping, stop resetting it. It may be reacting to water, damaged wiring, a faulty appliance or another fault that needs testing.
What should I do before an electrician arrives?
Keep clear of damaged fittings, wet outlets, exposed wiring, smoke, burning smells and fallen service lines. Turn off an affected circuit only if it is safe, and call emergency services first for life-threatening danger.
Can water-damaged electrical fittings be used again?
Do not use water-affected outlets, switches, lights, outdoor fittings or electrical equipment until they have been checked. Water damage can leave unsafe wiring, fittings or protection devices behind.
Can emergency faults involve Level 2 work?
Yes. Some emergency faults can involve consumer mains, metering, point-of-attachment damage, service equipment or defect notices. Evaready provides Ausgrid and Endeavour Energy Accredited Level 2 ASP support where the job scope requires it.
Who handles fallen powerlines or public network equipment?
Keep at least eight metres away from a fallen or low powerline and call Triple Zero (000) for immediate danger. Public network assets remain with the relevant electricity distributor. Our licensed electricians can assess property-side wiring and private service equipment after the area has been made safe.
What details help with an emergency electrical call?
State the suburb, what happened, whether anything is hot, smoking, wet, sparking or repeatedly tripping, and whether power is off. Take photos only from a safe position. Active hazards should be discussed by phone rather than left in a quote form.
